Sixth Grade Camp Out has Class of 2028 Asking for S'More!

Students have learned to be flexible during the COVID-19 pandemic, with group plans and traditions worldwide being cancelled and adjusted.  So when the ICS administrators learned that the traditional sixth grade Camping Trip would not be able to take place at Camp Letts, they were determined to create the valuable experience in-house for the Class of 2028.  Thus the first annual ICS Sixth Grade Camp Out was born!

On Friday, September 24, Indian Creek sixth grade students and parents returned to school in the evening to pitch individual tents in the Atrium field on the School's 114-acre wooded campus.  After the tents were constructed, the parents said goodnight, leaving the students and teachers for a night of camp-out fun!  In Creek tradition, students tie-dyed t-shirts, played field games under the lights in the Eagles Athletics Complex, enjoyed a pizza dinner, and of course s'mores!  At the end of the evening, Middle School Principal Matt McCormick read a story to the class under the stars, before students retired to their individual tents for lights out.  The class woke to a beautiful sunrise on the quiet campus and shared a quick breakfast before leaving for the weekend.

While this year's sixth grade camping trip was different than originally planned, it created the same memories, and bonding experiences for students and faculty for which the experience is known!
