Indian Creek Names Casey Corkin Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach

The Indian Creek Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Casey Corkin as its next Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach. Coach Corkin has been a member of the Eagles Varsity Boys Basketball coaching staff, and has served as Head JV Boys Basketball Coach at Indian Creek for two seasons. He also serves as Indian Creek School’s Head Track and Field Coach. Coach Corkin has not only achieved on-court success but was instrumental in keeping athletes connected throughout the pandemic, engaging his players in engaging remote workouts. Coach Corkin’s coaching philosophy aligns with that of the Eagles Athletic Department and he is committed to providing the best experience possible for every player.

The Eagles Varsity Girls Basketball program holds a great legacy at the School, winning the IAAM C-Conference Championship title in 2017 and then made a second appearance in the 2019 Championship game.  Coach Corkin plans to build on the foundation that former Head Coaches Jamie Cook and Ciaran Lesikar have created with the team.

The Indian Creek community is thrilled to have Coach Corkin at the helm.  “What separates Coach Corkin is his understanding of the school and clear plan for how to engage our current athletes and continue to grow the Girls Basketball Program. He is a presence on campus throughout the year and is a great ambassador for the school and athletic program in the community,” shared Indian Creek Interim Director of Athletics Jason Werner.

The feeling is mutual. “Our coaching staff will focus on building the character of all girls in the program, ensure their number one focus is on academics and challenging themselves academically, and helping the girls gain the necessary skills to play in college. We will be a program that focuses first on developing players at Indian Creek over their four years, while we increase our efforts to recruit the most talented girl basketball players in the area,” shared Coach Corkin. He plans to build the program from there. “One of my initial goals is to create an excitement and a feeling of unity within the Indian Creek Community and young girls and adults in the surrounding counties. Hopefully, we can fill the stands with excited fans for Indian Creek Girls basketball this year.”
