Lower School Students Create "Blankets of Hope"

Last week, Indian Creek Lower School Counselor Maryellen Polvino-Bodnar was proud to deliver 96 "Blankets of Hope" on behalf of her students to The Light House of Annapolis homeless prevention shelter.

This project was important to ICS third through sixth grade students over the last weeks of school, as the children raised funds to purchase the blankets and then wrote thoughtful letters and drew pictures to be given with each blanket.  Students enjoyed the project, which gave them the opportunity to practice their skills in empathy, support, and encouragement, and have an impact on their community. The Light House staff was appreciative of the students' thoughtfulness.  "We will absolutely use these gifts for our residents and community clients to provide them with a warm blanket along with the wonderful messages of hope. They were so touching and so well written!" shared Light House Volunteer Programs Administrator Sarah Ryan.
