Crafting Yarn Dolls, Building Log Cabins, and Churning Butter Give Second Graders a Glimpse into Pioneer Life

The ICS Class of 2031 journeyed back in time to the early 1800s, as they held a Pioneer Day on Thursday, May 13. To deepen their studies of the American migration and what life was like for the settlers, the students immersed themselves in activities that pioneer children would have enjoyed.  The students hand-crafted yarn dolls, played favorite children's game "Nine Man’s Morris," constructed log cabins, and even churned their own butter. A highlight of the day was definitely sampling the results of their efforts!  While the students enjoyed their walk back in time, we are happy to have the second graders back to the present.
