Green Club Consults with Maryland Park Service Trail Manager Dan Hudson
One of the goals of Indian Creek's Upper School Green Club is to enhance the trails around the School's 114-acre wooded campus. Green Club officers went straight to the experts, inviting Maryland Park Service Trail Manager Dan Hudson to attend the Green Club meeting on Tuesday, March 9, and consult with the club on how to achieve their goals.
Mr. Hudson met with the group and shared information about best practices in creating sustainable trails. He highlighted some key components in trail planning, inviting the group to consider who their users will be and what the trails would be used for. He then provided expertise in ways to ensure that the trails have minimal impact on the ecosystem, provide minimal user conflict, and require minimal maintenance. The Green Club is excited to incorporating Mr. Hudson's advice into their project.
Indian Creek's Green Club is a community service-based club dedicated to helping the environment by promoting sustainable practices, raising awareness, conserving the natural environment, and taking action in our community. The club meets weekly, on Friday mornings, and is excited to welcome new members! Any student in grades 7-12 who is interested in learning more about Green Club can reach out to club officers Amareah Bead and Addy Mock, or club advisor Mrs. Roth.
