ICS Class of 1983 Reminisces about Magical Middle School Years

Valentine's Day may be a few weeks away, but on the evening of Wednesday, February 3, alumni from the ICS Class of 1983 were feeling the Creek love!  Director of Campus Connections Bruce Crossman hosted the first of what will hopefully be many virtual gatherings for ICS Alumni. The evening's event reconnected 11 members of the Class of 1983, plus six of their teachers, and several current ICS administrators, 37 years after their eighth grade graduation.  The group came together from seven different states, spanning four different time zones to reminisce about their Middle School years.

The childhood friends smiled and laughed for almost two hours, sharing memories of first kisses, class trips, and even the hijinks of a young science teacher named Mr. Crossman.  The group also discussed the many reasons why they loved their time at Indian Creek. “[ICS] was family – we all felt like we were a part of it…The friendships I made [at ICS] were different from the friendships [I’ve made] since,” shared one alum.

Perhaps the most universal detail that the group shared was that the connections and bonds they had with their teachers were paramount to their connection to the school and each other. The group was glad to hear that these relationships remain an important aspect of the Indian Creek experience today.
