Indian Creek Launches Virtual School

Dear ICS Community,

As we launch the first session of Virtual School at Indian Creek, the news and response to the COVID-19 pandemic continues to move at a rapid pace. The quickly evolving landscape has us all feeling uncertain in many ways. However, I write to you today to share very certain and comforting news. Virtual School at Indian Creek will begin on Wednesday. The accompanying webinar and Family Guide should demonstrate that the School is ready to continue to offer the best education available for its students. Personally, I have the feeling I normally have right before the start of school every August. I am excited to begin!

We will approach our work with patience, compassion, and open-mindedness. Our school values of community, teaching and learning best practices, and the advancement of diversity, equity and inclusion are still in place. We are in this together. We have been preparing for this for years without even knowing it – through our blended learning platform BLinc, a fine-tuned approach to Tech, and the creativity of our teachers. While I can’t wait for that great day when we can all be together again, I know that the time between now and then will be productive, reflective and supportive.

Our School Counselors continue to be available to the ICS community. In the coming days, any family who has been working directly with the Lower School Learning Specialist or with any Upper School Support teacher will hear directly from them via email to learn about their ongoing efforts with our students.

The information from the Webinar and Family Guide will serve as our foundation for the first session of Virtual School. Should we need to extend to a second session after April 10 we will record another Webinar and update the Family Guide based on lessons learned and feedback received. With all that in mind, our communication will continue to be proactive and sincere.

We already miss seeing all of you and we will do our very best to continue to foster the connection that we have with each other as an important part of our everyday lives and as a hopeful symbol of better days to come.

Sincerely,

Booth Kyle
Head of School
