Sophia O'Connell '25 Supports Cancer Research through October Saves Goalies Program

Indian Creek seventh grade student Sophia O'Connell participated in October Saves, a fundraiser through her ice hockey league that supports cancer research and treatment. Through October saves, ice hockey goalies across North America raised thousands of dollars for this cause. As a hockey goalie, Sophia solicited pledges on a per save basis, as well as flat donations, and raised approximately $700.00 through her (approximately) 150 saves during the month of October. Sophia was invited to present her league's donation to the Inova Schar Cancer Institute, Life with Cancer and Team Mathias at The October Saves Mid-Atlantic Big Check Ceremony, on Monday, December 16. Way to go Sophia!
