Key Club Supports Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services Holiday Sharing Program

by Ryan Walker '20
The Indian Creek School Key Club participated in the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services' Holiday Sharing Program this year. This program gave students the opportunity to donate holiday gifts to ten families in need. Almost all of Indian Creek's 55 Key Club members participated in this project. ICS students were divided up and each group was assigned to a family for whom they could provide gifts. The Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services recommends a book, clothing, and/or a small toy per child, but our members went above and beyond. We ended up with so many gifts including an abundance of clothes, toys, and even four bikes! It was o a great experience for the ICS students to come together and wrap the gifts for the families. Several students delivered the gifts to the department in downtown Annapolis over winter break. It was a wonderful experience for the students to see how happy the employees were when the Creekers brought in all of the gifts!

Indian Creek Key Club members had a lot to say about this experience:
"It felt good to help those in need. It was fun picking out gifts to give to kids who would appreciate them." - Danny Swope '22

"It was very rewarding to help brighten another individual's holiday season and to give back to those who may not have had an opportunity to receive gifts otherwise." - Victoria Auld '20

"I really enjoyed going to the department downtown to give them our gifts. The reactions of the workers there were so wholesome and appreciative." - Micheal Mercer '20

"I enjoyed wrapping the gifts with everyone after school in the auditorium because it showed that everyone there cared and was willing to put in the effort to make someone else's holiday season much more enjoyable." - Sam Tator '20
