Q & A With Alumnus Todd MacMullan ’98

The entire Indian Creek community loves to hear from our alumni so that we can take pride in the lives that our Creekers lead after graduation. The ICS alumni office recently had the opportunity to catch up with Evergreen Campus alumnus Todd MacMullin '98, who is now Senior Vice President of Latitude, Inc. Todd reflected on some of the ways that Indian Creek helped to shape his future in a Q&A with Director of Alumni Engagement Anne Crossman Engles '97:

Q: What are you doing now?

TM: I am Sr. Vice President of Latitude Inc. Latitude is a Technical specialized Staffing and Recruitment firm located near BWI airport. We help companies find and attract talented individuals.

Q: How did you get there?
TM: During my senior year at Towson University, I interviewed at a bunch of different places. I was lucky enough that Towson’s Athletic Department was contacted by our owner, and they put me in touch the owner of Latitude; the company likes to hire athletes, and it helped [that I was a lacrosse player at Towson] in the interview process. That was twelve years ago, and I have been here ever since. I started as an entry level Technical Recruiter, learned the business, and worked my way up from Recruiter to Account Manager to Senior Account Manager to Branch Manager; last year, I was promoted to Senior Vice President.

Q: How did ICS prepare you for this path?
TM: It sounds silly, but along with my mom, dad, and older brother, Scott, ICS gave me a great understanding of hard work, teamwork, and community. The ICS environment was one that taught these values. I will be the first to say that I was not the best student. I had a tough time sitting still, and a lot of the teachers at ICS helped me overcome this. I also felt more prepared going to high school and college. I am very thankful for my time at ICS because of that.

Q: What advice would you give to a current Creeker who wants to follow your path?
TM: Work hard at the things you struggle with and fine-tune your talents. There is always room for improvement in everything you do. I always feel like the harder you work the luckier you get because it has been very true in my life. Lastly, be sure to have fun and enjoy the ride!

Q: What teacher had the most impact on you at your time at ICS and how?
TM: Tough question here: It is not a teacher but many teachers that impacted me! Definitely [former Athletic Director] Jamie Cook, Brad Woodward, Mr. Crossman…They were great teachers and excellent role models. I always felt like they went the extra mile for me when I needed help – they made me want to do the same thing going forward for others.

Q: Favorite ICS memory?
TM: Another tough one. The dances, the athletic games, hanging out with friends, and Spring Fairs all were a blast. The friends I made from the school are lifelong friends with whom I still keep in touch today!
