Third Grade Honors Maryland Air National Guard

The 104th Fighter Squadron for the Maryland Air National Guard recently deployed to Afghanistan. In appreciation for their service, the Indian Creek School third grade class wrote cards and letters wishing all of the airmen well. They also included homemade get well cards for anybody who becomes sick during this deployment. In appreciation for their kindness, the 104th Fighter Squadron presented the Class of 2028 with an American flag that was flown on a combat mission by one of the airplanes flown by the squadron. The flag came with a certificate indicating the day that it was flown, the aircraft that it was flown on, and the pilot who flew the mission. The third grade students are incredibly proud of this thoughtful gift.

In addition, the third grade students wrote birthday cards to a 93 year old World War II veteran named Recil Calvin Troxel. His only wish for his birthday was to receive birthday cards, as many as possible from anywhere and anyone. The class created beautiful cards in the hopes that they could make Mr. Troxel's day brighter.
