Wonder Goats Visit ICS!

Indian Creek first through third grade students celebrated Earth Day with quite possibly the cutest guest speakers ever invited to campus, as they welcomed Mary Bowen, of Prosperity Farms, and her six baby goats to Lower School. Mary is a sixth-generation farmer, environmental advocate, and author of the children’s book Nadia The Wonder Goat, which teaches children of all ages that goats are fun and highlights the many ways in which goats help the environments.

Ms. Bowen read her book aloud to the first through third grade students, and answered questions about her story, writing process, and goats in general.  She even gave a few signed copies of her book to students who had birthdays last week. Next, the group went outside to visit with Ms. Bowen's six baby goats: Marley, Poppy, Paisley, Jimmy Buffet, Royella, and Harper. The goats roamed among the students, being pet and fed. Some students even got to feed the goats milk from a bottle!  This wonderful visit was an exciting way for students to learn unique ways to help the environment from an author and farmer. Ms. Bowen and her goats taught our children in a memorable way about the amazing ways goats help the environment.
