Washington National Cathedral Inspires Fourth Grade

After two inclement weather postponements, the Indian Creek School Class of 2027 was finally able to enjoy their highly anticipated field trip to the Washington National Cathedral on Tuesday, February 5. This awe-inspiring national treasure was well worth the wait! At the Cathedral, the fourth grade students had the opportunity to see genuine gothic architecture up close and in person. While the students have studied this type of architecture during their exploration of Medieval and Renaissance life, the beauty and scale of this national landmark brought their lessons to life. The entire class formed a circle around one of the gigantic pillars that support the Cathedral and were were amazed at the size of the building. The class also enjoyed identifying gargoyles, flying buttresses, pointed arches, ribbed vaulted ceilings and the glorious stained glass windows. The beauty of the sun shining through the colorful windows was mesmerizing.
