Upper School Class Trips (Grades 9-12)

Each September, students in grades 9-11 take a multi-day trip with their classmates. This provides them with the opportunity to experience a new place, perhaps reaching out of their comfort zone, and learn more about each other in the process.

Freshman students team-build through outdoor adventure exercises which are combined with hands-on environmental field studies. This year the class will visit a mountain learning center in the heart of West Virginia’s Appalachian Mountains.

Sophomore students go to New York City, and explore the culture, history, and entertainment of the Big Apple. This year's class will enjoy the musical "Dear Evan Hansen."

Junior students use this trip to visit a sampling of colleges in Virginia to get a feel for where they are most able to see themselves in their next educational endeavor.

Seniors use the three trip days to visit colleges or work on college applications on their own schedule.

Specific details for each trip can be found on the resource board for Upper School parents and students logged in to the ICS website. Please contact Dean of Student Activities, Tonya Montgomery with questions.
