Lower School Athletics

Active children lead healthier, happier, and more productive lives. Indian Creek believes that our role is to help our students imagine their future, embrace their loftiest dreams, and realize their full potential.
Neuroscience research states that exercise improves mental alertness. Indian Creek keeps students physically active throughout the day with physical education classes, movement, and active lessons. The more our young people exercise the greater their long-term memory, attention, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.

The Lower School Athletic Department offers a variety of county-sponsored sports and afterschool enrichment programs to girls and boys in grades 1-6. These opportunities will be held afterschool and sometimes on the weekends. Each session includes skills practice, lead-up and small-sided games with an emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship.

The Goals of our Lower School Athletics Program are to:

Athletic Teams

Plus Enrichment Opportunities throughout the year!

Lower School Athletics Information for Fall 2018

If you are interested in registering your child to participate for Indian Creek (CREEK) in the upcoming Anne Arundel County sports program next season in soccer, basketball or lacrosse, please complete the registration form. This process will allow us to determine if we have enough interest to field teams in each respective sport and level for the 2018-2019 season.
Registration deadlines:

Fall (Soccer) – June 14, 2018
Winter (Basketball) – October 14, 2018
Spring (Lacrosse) – January 14, 2019

Registration is open to students ages 8 and up. The participant must turn 7 before he/she is eligible to participate on a team. Students in grades 6, 7 and 8 will participate in the traditional independent school league.

If rosters or coaching positions cannot be filled, you will be notified in advance to allow ample time to register your child in another county program. Please understand that there are a minimum and a maximum number of roster spots allowable so please keep this in mind before making a final commitment. Participation on a team requires dedication and commitment from both the players and the families.

Below is a brief explanation of how the program will work:
  • All teams will have practice once or twice a week for 1 to 1 ½ hours with no weekend practices.
  • All practices will be held after school on the Evergreen Campus fields. Practice times will vary from team to team but will be held between a 3:00-7:00 time frame.
  • Game schedules and game locations will be determined by the county but are usually weekends with some weekday evenings depending on the sport and level.
  • A registration fee of $50 will cover all costs associated with the program.
  • Sports teams will be based on age/grade level per county regulations. In most cases, we will have combined age/grade level teams.
  • All coaches will be required to have a background check and attend a certification clinic.
