The One Creek Campaign will support the unification of Indian Creek School on our Crownsville Campus on Anne Chambers Way. In these extraordinary times, ICS has the opportunity to create facilities to augment the academic programming for all current and future Pre-K through grade 12 students. The addition of the 27,000 square-foot Eagle Dome, a significant renovation to the existing school building, plus a 12,000 square-foot addition will serve to strengthen the community and fulfill the commitment to educate all of our students on one campus.

Transforming the Crownsville Campus

Phase 1

During the summer of 2020, Indian Creek School officially began the first step towards the unification of our campuses by breaking ground on a dynamic facility to be known as the Eagle Dome. The Eagle Dome will provide an air-supported enclosure over four of Indian Creek's existing tennis courts, creating versatile indoor space to be used for tennis, basketball, volleyball, and any outdoor sports team during inclement weather. During this era when physical distancing is required, the Eagle Dome can also be used for additional instructional space during school hours. Eagle Dome will be operational by mid-November. Also during the fall of 2020, ICS is investing in significant upgrades to the lighting in the Becker Auditorium.  This best-in-class system will elevate the Performing Arts experience through immersive special effects, and enhance the meeting environment for assemblies, events, and other community gatherings.

Phase 2

In late winter of  2021, ICS will start work on the addition to our current facilities on Anne Chambers Way. This addition will double the size of the cafeteria and include a 3200 square foot Academic Resource Center and Learning Lab for grades 6-12 on the second floor and a 1500 square foot Pre-K - grade 5 Learning Commons on the first floor. The lawn area overlooking the Athletics Complex will be transformed into a community patio and terrace that will host outdoor events and serve as a beautiful outdoor lunch area for all. Additional outdoor enhancements will include two new playgrounds and an outdoor basketball court. Work will be completed during the summer months of 2021.

Phase 3

This phase of the unification will focus on renovating spaces in the current building. The second floor Loft area will be renovated to accommodate new visual arts classrooms. So will the entire first floor hallway stretching from the current arts rooms to the Stein Innovation Lab. This hallway will become the new Pre-K - grade 5 classroom wing, accomplished by moving the arts studios upstairs, relocating the Richardson Library to the new Academic Resource Center, and economizing office space. All Pre-K - grade 5 classroom spaces will be upgraded with new furniture, and the Stein Innovation Lab will be appropriately used as a Pre-K- grade 5 STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) Center. The Grindrod Atrium will also be enhanced with new furniture in order to serve as a student center space for grades 9-12. Finally, this reorganization offers ICS the opportunity to organize grades 6-8 in one section of the building so we can emphasize important curriculum and social-emotional learning enhancements for students in those grades. This renovation work will be completed by August 2021.
