Jeremy Beauregard Named Director of Equity and Inclusion

Indian Creek School is committed to building diversity as a core value of our community and fostering an inclusive environment in which all members of the school community are understood, valued, respected, and affirmed. A strong and robust Equity and Inclusion program, from Pre-Kindergarten through twelfth grade, is intrinsic to achieving and maintaining this goal. Indian Creek School is pleased to announce that Dr. Jeremy Beauregard has been appointed to lead Indian Creek School's work towards this integral component of educational excellence as Director of Equity and Inclusion.

Dr. Jeremy Beauregard joined the Indian Creek Humanities faculty in 2017, teaching World Literature II and American Literature. Dr. Beauregard holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Long Island University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Vermont (UVM), and a Doctorate in Education also from the University of Vermont. He has been a Teaching Fellow, as well as a Teaching Assistant at UVM. He was an Adjunct Professor and a Teaching Fellow of English at Long Island University. He was also a student teacher at Montpelier High School in Vermont.

During his time at Indian Creek, Dr. Beauregard has become known for his ability to connect with students and facilitate important conversations with empathy, while still holding teens to high academic standards. Last year, Dr. Beauregard joined the ICS Equity and Inclusion team, where he has been instrumental in seeking opportunities for students to pursue enrichment in this area both in and outside of school. This year, as Interim Director of Equity and Inclusion and in collaboration with school administration, he has also been integral in advising and working with students on delicate social issues.

Dr. Beauregard's motivation, commitment, energy, and excitement will help him to not only enhance the existing program, but also to increase the scope of Indian Creek's community-wide Equity and Inclusion initiative. Students and faculty from Pre-K through grade 12 will now receive the benefits of his guidance. He looks forward to supporting curriculum development aimed at teaching students to think critically about cultural diversity, as well as developing student leadership in matters related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. "The opportunity to have a real impact within Indian Creek and the surrounding community in this important way is a true honor. Creating a more inclusive community is an exciting pursuit, and I am thrilled to be able to dedicate myself to making ICS and the world better."

Incoming Head of School Booth Kyle is pleased at Dr. Beauregard's enthusiasm. "Jeremy has the experience and commitment necessary for him to succeed in this expanded leadership role. His strengths in pedagogy, content, and facilitation will support classroom and community experiences that benefit all Pre-K through twelfth grade students. I also look forward to partnering with him as we develop recruitment and retention strategies that will further strengthen our faculty and staff."
