Ms. Allen '01 and Mr. Bear Present at National Science Teachers Association Conference

Indian Creek faculty members Sarah Allen '01 and Ab Bear were invited to speak at the National Science Teachers Association Conference (NSTA) in National Harbor, MD, November 15-17. The 2018 NTSA Conference, themed "Science Education: A National Priority," brought together educators who are actively implementing STEM programs in their schools or districts across the United States. The conference provided a forum for innovative teachers to learn tactics for the classroom, build professional learning networks, connect with effective outreach programs, discover new resources, and build a strong curriculum to take back to their schools.

Ms. Allen and Mr. Bear presented two sessions at NTSE this year. Their first session was titled “Digital Designers: How to Use Technology to Create a Design-Thinking Mindset in Young Learnersm” The session focused on how we bring authentic, problem-based learning into our classrooms at Indian Creek. The second session was titled “Unlocking the Code: A Model for Coding Implementation” and focused on how to bring coding experiences to all students. Mr. Bear and Ms. Allen represented Indian Creek well, and enjoyed the conference as educators. As Ms. Allen shared, "We had a blast sharing our work and connecting with educators from around the country!"
