Brandon Harris '18 Receives Outstanding Young HOBY Alumni Award in New York City

In 2016, at the end of his sophomore year, Brandon Harris '18 was selected to represent Indian Creek School at the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Conference (HOBY) at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. At this conference, Brandon participated in seminars and activities that strengthened his leadership skills and connected him with other young leaders in the state of Maryland. This experience was meaningful to Brandon, who consistently strives to lead the way in bettering himself and others.

This spring, Brandon learned that he would be the recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumni Award at the Albert Schweitzer Leadership Awards Gala, an event that "recognizes leaders in diverse areas of human endeavor and supports fundraising efforts that sustain HOBY programs, which provide young people with leadership development opportunities throughout the world."   which was created to recognize and honor HOBY alumni ages 25 and under for their accomplishments and service. Brandon joined an esteemed group of award recipients. According to HOBY, "The winners of this award have distinguished themselves as a leader among their peers and in their community. They have served in their schools, neighborhoods, and communities, started their own non-profits and have made a significant difference in the lives of others."
