Indian Creek wraps up first MIAA title

Brandon Harris drove in John Warner, who had doubled, with the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning and Indian Creek went on to a 3-2 victory over Concordia Prep in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association C Conference championship game.

The hit by Harris came on Monday, right before the game was suspended due to rain. The teams ventured back to McDonogh School on Tuesday and Indian Creek’s Evan Selmer made it a short trip, mowing down the 9-1-2 batters on 16 pitches to earn the save and give the Eagles the win and their first MIAA C Conference championship in just their second year of playing an MIAA schedule.

The Eagles scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning when Maurice Elder led off with a single and Selmer followed with an RBI double. After a strikeout and a ground out, Selmer scored when Alex Petrocelli lifted a pop up to third that was missed and scored an error on the Saints.

Travis Garnett worked seven innings, allowed two hits, two runs (one earned), walked three and struck out nine to earn the win for Indian Creek (13-4).
