Ancient Rome Comes to Life at Third Grade Independent Learning Day

The Indian Creek School third grade classrooms transformed into a scene from Ancient Rome on Wednesday, February 28, as the Class of 2027 celebrated their Roman studies with an Independent Learning Day. To culminate their Ancient Rome unit in Social Studies class, each student chose a topic that they had touched upon in class to research further on their own. Students investigated ancient roman fashion, Mount Vesuvius, gladiators, the Collosseum, aquaducts, Pompei, mosaic art, the Ancient Roman Calendar, the Roman governmental structure, and more! After researching their topics and completing a written report, students next chose a way to share their findings with their peers. Some students built models, created artwork, and designed board games about their topics. One student even baked a gingerbread Collosseum with gummy bear gladiators! Parents, faculty, and other Lower School students were invited to view the projects and learn about Ancient Rome from the third graders. Congratulations to the Class of 2027 for a successful Independent Learning Day!
