Indian Creek Riders Gallop to League Championship!

In their final show of the regular season on February 11, the Indian Creek Equestrian team was up against 15 other schools with the league’s Championship title on the line. The Eagles were in a neck-and-neck battle with Archbishop Spalding for first place in the Varsity Inter-School Horse Show Series (ISHS) standings. The Eagles took first place in the show and consequently secured the title of Varsity ISHS 2017-18 Champion!

Indian Creek finished the season with 311 points. Archbishop Spalding finished in second place, just six points behind. The team delivered with all six Varsity riders contributing to the team’s 44 points. Annie Chalkley ‘21 and Tatiana Bachara ‘20 led the team in points with 17 and 16 points, respectively.

The Varsity team members are Brianna Allen ‘20, Simone Brown ‘20, Tatiana Buchara ‘20, Annie Chalkley ‘21, Danielle Heffner ‘20 and Lawrence Fowler ‘22. Also performing in shows this season was the JV team with three members: Anna Crum ‘23, Micah Ferrell-Rogers ‘23 and Sierra Stevenson ‘24. Both teams practiced and worked together to support all the riders.

This is the equestrian team’s second year competing at the Varsity level. Last year they finished in second place for the season. The ISHS hosts a friendly end-of-year invitational show for qualified riders. All ICS JV and Varsity riders made the cut and will compete on March 11 at Oatland Stables.
