ICS Girls on the Run Culminate Season of Connection, Service, and Fitness

Indian Creek's Girls on the Run Team has had a busy few weeks, pursuing their mission to empower girls through connection, service, and fitness!  The team, comprised of girls in grades 3-4, meet twice a week to enjoy training runs around campus with junior Coach Abbi McKenney '23 and coaches Heather DeBuse and Eliza McLaren.

This year, the girls decided to create a community service project to benefit the Annapolis SPCA. The girls planned and executed a school-wide bake sale, which raised almost $700.  These proceeds, combined with other funds from the group for $1000 to put towards their cause.  The group decided to split their $1000 into $500 cash donation to SPCA and take a shopping trip to pick out supplies for the shelter animals with the other half. The girls enjoyed a trip to PetSmart last Monday, where each girl spent $50. The girls visited the SPCA Wednesday afternoon to donate their items, present a $500 check, and play with the animals!

The Lower School athletes culminated their season last Sunday, participating in the Girls on the Run 5K in Druid Hill park, in Baltimore. Congratulations to the ICS Girls on the Run Team, including Grae, Lexi, Kiva, Ruby, Sophia, Ryan, Katie, Grace, Io, and Lucy, on a great season!
