College-Bound Seniors Share Experiences as Female Student-Athletes

College-bound Indian Creek seniors Cali Schwerdtfeger, Ellie Sharma and Megan Bunker were part of a panel discussion this week to share their experiences as female student-athletes who will continue playing sports at the college level.

Schwerdtfeger (Fairleigh Dickinson, lacrosse), Sharma (Converse College, field hockey) and Bunker (Seton Hill, basketball and lacrosse) discussed the recruiting process, shared their views on discrepancies between male and female athletics, and answered questions about how to balance academics, athletics and their mental health to help inform younger student-athletes interested in playing sports in college.

The discussion was hosted by EMPOWER, Indian Creek’s club for female-identifying students, and was part of EMPOWER’s bimonthly “Let’s Talk About” series that focuses on issues important to women and girls here at Indian Creek and beyond.
