"Brigadoon" Cast & Crew Celebrate Community at Virtual Cast Party

Thursday, April 23, was a cool, damp evening in Maryland - reminiscent of the misty heathered fields of Scotland, which would have been the perfect setting for the opening night of Indian Creek's high school musical, "Brigadoon."  Instead, the cast and crew gathered together virtually for a traditional (but not so traditional) cast party, full of warm, bright community spirit.

The cast and crew of over 60 students and their parents, joined by directors Jill Woodward and Matt McCormick and choreographer Amy Rink, shared stories, thanked parent volunteers and honored our incredible Performing Arts seniors. Emma Kornmeyer '21, the theater department “Overlord”, emceed the event with an equal dose of love and humor. Many families even cooked traditional Scottish refreshments to honor the event.

Seniors Elizabeth Foster, Shaun Gerety, Jordyne Hebron, Drew Jones, Justine Krizan, Sean Lonergan, Connor McLay, Julia Mead, Michael Mercer, John Patrick Reilly, Grace Walworth and Lena Warner were honored, as it was important to the cast and crew to honor their achievements and contributions to the ICS Performing Arts department. Each senior shared the “bio” they had written for the show's program.  Underclassmen then read a letter to each seniors to share favorite memories from their years in ICS theater as well as well-wishes for the future.

“These students poured their hearts into this show and the ICS community would have been truly blown away by their performance onstage. I'm so proud of this cast and crew - not just for the show they put together, but also for the grace and maturity they showed when we had to cancel their milestone event due to the pandemic. Being together at our 'cast party' helped us all to fill our hearts with that special dose of ICS community we all needed”, said Director Jill Woodward.

Freshman Julia Argilan said it best:  “The world is currently in intermission, but I’m looking forward to seeing you in Act 2!”
