Creekers Zoom to Excellence at Cub Scout Pinewood Derby
Indian Creek fourth grade students Penn Keuleman, Reid Qualey, and Isaac Waesche put their STEM skills to the test on Saturday, January 25, to compete in the annual Cup Scouts Pinewood Derby. The pinewood derby is a racing event for unpowered, unmanned miniature cars. The scouts build their own cars from pine wood, plastic wheels, and metal axles, whittling, sanding, painting, and adding weights to achieve required weight, size, and speed specifications. Reid earned third fastest car for the Webelows’ den, and Penn placed second for the best paint job. The boys worked hard on their cars, and enjoyed racing them while their friends, family, and teacher Mrs. DeBuse cheered them on. Congratulations Creekers!
