Varsity Girls Soccer Wins over Chapelgate 7-1!

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Soccer team for their biggest win in recent history, as they topped Chapelgate Christian 7-1 yesterday!

Chapelgate took an early 1-0 lead in the sixth minute of play with a breakaway goal. Creek fought back, and leveled eight minutes later when junior Annie Chalkley slotted in her fourth goal of the season, assisted by freshman Faith Spirt. The Eagles then took the lead in the 23rd minute when sophomore Dani Engelfried fired in a penalty kick after a Chapelgate defender was called for a handball on the Eagles' corner kick.

n Martin '22 increased the lead in the 25th minute when Chalkley played a through ball to her. Martin dribbled around a defender and slotted in a near post shot. With a minute to go in the first half, Spirt beat the Yellow Jackets' defense with a through ball from Martin.Spirt finished her 1v1 with the keeper making it 4-1 at the end of the first half. 
 
Four minutes into the second half, junior Naomi Sheppard split the Chapelgate defense with a pass that found Annie Chalkley on a breakaway. Chalkley fired in her shot making it 5-1 Creek. It would take only four more minutes for Annie to complete her hat trick when sophomore Addy Mock played a pass that split the Yellow Jacket defense leaving Annie 1 on 1 with the keeper.  Engelfried would complete the Eagles scoring in the 65th minute when Mock played her a pass leaving Dani just a few yards from the goal.
 
The final score of this exciting game was 7-1. Way to go Eagles!
