Mrs. Heather DeBuse Receives 2019 WELead Women of Influence Award

Indian Creek School is proud to share that fourth grade teacher Heather DeBuse is the recipient of a 2019 WELead Women of Influence Award.
WELead is an organization dedicated to recognizing what women do to strengthen not only themselves personally and professionally, but also what they do to influence change, growth and success in the world around them. On Friday, April 5, the group awarded Heather Nanni DeBuse, along with two other members of the greater Annapolis community “Woman of Influence Awards” in the categories of Community, Business and Non-profit.

Ms. DeBuse is being recognized for her work as President of the non-profit Impact 100 Greater Chesapeake, Inc. Impact 100 is a group of women dedicated to supporting charitable organizations in the community by raising awareness and providing grant funding. The group focuses on concerns such as arts and culture, education, environment, recreation, preservation, family, and health and wellness. Several other members of the Indian Creek community are involved with Impact 100, including faculty members Mrs. Debbie Fowler and Mrs. Stacy Kornmeyer, and Trustee Citsi Castro.

Ms. DeBuse and her Impact 100 Greater Chesapeake chapter were recently highlighted in What’s Up? Annapolis magazine for a recent $57,000 gift to Maryland Therapeutic Riding. This grant benefited the purchase of three new farm vehicles, which will be used to support MTR programs and give children, adults, active duty military, and veterans with special needs the opportunity to connect with horses.

Congratulations to Ms. DeBuse on this honor.
