Open to students entering Grades 9-11
Session 1: July 5 – 16
This two-week course, created and taught by ICS STEM Director Stephen Roth, will introduce the unique features and vast diversity that make-up Kingdom Animalia.
Students will have the opportunity to explore the spineless variety of invertebrates that account for 97% of all animal species, to bizarre characteristics of some commonplace vertebrates – (Did you know frogs can breathe through their skin?!?) Emphasis will be placed on patterns and distinguishing traits of larger taxonomic groups.
Materials will be provided at the beginning of each week so students can select the pace and path they wish to investigate. Several live, online class meetings will also be scheduled to provide a collaborative and fun environment for discussions.
