Upper School

Upper School TripsEach September, Upper School students take a multi-day trip with their classmates. This provides them with the opportunity to experience a new place, perhaps reaching out of their comfort zone, and learn more about each other in the process.

Freshman students team-build through outdoor adventure exercises which are combined with hands-on environmental field studies.  This year the class will visit a mountain learning center in the heart of West Virginia’s Appalachian Mountains.

Upper School TripsSophomore students go to New York City, where they spend two days. While there, they take a tour of the Tenement Museum; have a walking tour of historic Manhattan; visit the 9/11 Memorial; see a Broadway show; take a guided tour of the Cloisters museum; and visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Juniors use this trip to visit colleges in either Virginia or Pennsylvania. Additionally, they visit local historical sites, to tie in with their United States history and literature classes.

Seniors use the three trip days to visit colleges or work on college applications on their own schedule.
