Summer Blended Learning Courses @ Indian Creek School

Do you want to try something new this summer? Are you interested in meeting students from all over the region who are also interested in learning new things? Indian Creek School is offering three exciting new Summer Blended Classes that are now open to students from any school near Annapolis, Maryland. These enrichment opportunities combine online and face-to-face educational experiences that encourage personalized learning allowing students to pursue their interests.

Writing Your College Application Essay

Open to students entering eleventh and twelfth grades in Fall 2017

Take the stress out of the upcoming school year by completing your college application essays over the summer! Rising juniors and seniors will benefit from one-on-one instruction and direct, constructive feedback from Indian Creek’s AP Language and Composition teacher. Online collaboration with other students and face-to-face meetings with the teacher will help each student develop their unique voice and story to strengthen their college applications. Course runs June 26-July 28 with in person meetings during the evenings of June 26 and July 28. $300

Maryland’s Coastal Environment

Open to students entering sixth through eighth grades in Fall 2017

Maryland’s beautiful coasts are home to such local treasures as lighthouses, blue crabs, wild ponies, and skipjacks. As you explore areas where water meets land, Indian Creek School’s STEM Director will guide you through the transitions that both connect and create these diverse regions. You will dive into the local flora and fauna, ecosystem structure, economic characteristics, and history of Maryland’s coastal environments. The web-based portion of the course will run from July 2-29. In addition to the online resources, students will come to the Indian Creek Upper School Campus in Crownsville, Maryland, for a hands-on laboratory experience using live coastal organisms on Saturday, July 15, from 9:00 a.m. - noon. $300

Pint-Sized Programming

Open to students entering first through fifth grades in Fall 2017

Rising first through fifth grade students will have fun while learning the foundations of computer programming.  Students will create their own interactive stories, games, and animations using the Scratch, Jr. application.  A national award winning first grade teacher combines fun face-to-face learning experiences with online projects that can be done at home.  Course runs from June 18-July 15.   Optional face-to-face meetings are scheduled for June 21, June 28, July 5, and July 14, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. $300
