Middle School Students Attend Leadership Conference

February 04, 2013

SGA officers at Leadership Conference On Thursday, January 31st, five of the Middle School Student Government officers attended a leadership workshop hosted by Garrison Forest School.   While the focus of the workshop was the qualities of a good leader, the platform was an advertising simulation.   After ice-breakers with the large group and a few quick getting to know you activities, students broke into small groups.   The groups, representing over ten AIMS schools, were tasked with creating a slogan, logo, print advertisement, and a short commercial for a new high-tech product.   Groups presented their finished products to a panel of teachers to determine the best in each of the categories and a best overall winner.  Although the simulation itself was challenging and engaging, students agreed that the best part of the day was interacting with the student leaders from the other schools
