Devin Barclay Indian Creek Soccer

Devin Barclay, Class of 1997
Director, Pipeline Soccer Club – Annapolis

After graduating from high school, Devin signed on with Major League Soccer. For five years, he played with the Tampa Bay Mutiny, San Jose Earthquakes, DC United, and Columbus Crew soccer clubs before returning to his educational pursuits at the Ohio State University. At Ohio State, Devin was a walk-on as a place kicker on the Buckeyes football team. After completing his degree, he became the Director of Coaching at the renowned Rush Soccer Club in Denver, Colorado. He recently returned to the Annapolis area to become Director of Pipeline Soccer Club’s Annapolis program. He has also returned to ICS to run a youth soccer camp for local players.

Of Indian Creek, Devin reports, “My time at Indian Creek School will never be forgotten! The school and its excellent faculty gave me the educational and moral tools to strive for success in all facets of my life.”


Eirik Olsen Indian CreekEirik Olsen, Class of 1992

In Eirik’s words, “Indian Creek gave me the confidence to know that I could succeed anywhere if I worked hard and put my mind to it.  Indian Creek was the ideal environment for me to learn the core building blocks that have served me incredibly well over the subsequent years.”

Eirik attended Indian Creek from Kindergarten through 8th grade, and still remembers his first day at ICS.  After high school, Eirik graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a degree in Economics and a minor in Finance.  He later earned an MBA with high distinction from Harvard Business School.

He reports that his education has been the foundation of his successes. Throughout his career, Eirik has had exciting opportunities to work at companies large and small, private and public, across a variety of industries.  While focusing on finance and business development, Eirik has worked as an investment banker at Credit Suisse; an acquisitions manager at Brookdale Senior Living, the nation’s largest senior housing provider; and the owner of a consulting company. Presently, Eirik is a manager at Capital One in charge of new product development, and lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife Robin and their son Ewan.


Charley Toomey Indian Creek LacrosseCharley Toomey, Class of 1981
Head Mens Lacrosse Coach, Loyola University, 2012 NCAA Champions

Charley has had an outstanding career coaching lacrosse. He started with the Loyola University Maryland Greyhounds’ lacrosse coaching staff in 1991, and was named Head Lacrosse Coach in 2006, the same year in which he was voted ECAC Coach of the Year. In 2012 he led his team to become the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Champions. This was a first for the Greyhounds and a landmark for the program. Charley continues to support Indian Creek and has returned to The Creek for numerous events, including helping to get the School’s boy’s lacrosse program off the ground in the mid-1980s. He has also coached a number of Creekers at various levels of play throughout the county.

Coach Toomey credits Indian Creek for his success, as ICS taught him the value of each individual and how encouraging each child creates a strong and winning team.  He learned to value the importance of mastering the basics and striving for excellence, and that a caring and safe community builds confidence in its members. He espouses these values as he maintains his strong teams and the winning tradition at Loyola.


Marlene Vasquez Indian CreekMarlene Vasquez, Class of 2008
Master’s Degree Candidate, McDaniel College

A member of Indian Creek Upper School’s first graduating class, Marlene graduated in 2008. She made much of her years at The Creek and was elected by her classmates to give the Farewell Address at graduation. In 2012, she graduated cum laude from McDaniel College with a degree in Psychology and will continue her studies there by pursuing a Master’s degree in counseling.

Marlene returned to Indian Creek to address the Class of 2012 at the annual Alumni Luncheon.  She offered these words of wisdom to the School’s newest alumni:

“My time here at Indian Creek prepared me with the tools necessary to excel in college and gave me the confidence to explore my interests by giving me the opportunity to try new things such as joining a sports team and becoming yearbook editor. This welcoming and caring community enabled me to form meaningful relationships, some of which I still have today. It also provided me with the support needed to excel in future endeavors. Overall, Indian Creek is a community that I am truly grateful to be part of and one that holds a special place in my heart.”
