Theatre

Indian Creek Crownsville Theatre TheaterEach year, students in the Middle and Upper Schools put on at least three theatrical productions: in the fall, a play in the Upper School; in the winter, a musical in the Middle School; and in the spring, a musical in the Upper School. This year, the Upper School has added a musical to the fall schedule, as well.

All Middle and Upper School students are encouraged to take part in the productions, whether they have previous acting or singing experience or not. Students who are interested in helping behind-the-scenes may help with sets, lighting, and the execution of performances. In recent years, more than a quarter of students have been involved in each theatrical production. Recent productions have included Fences, Footloose, Hairspray, West Side Story, Legally Blonde: the Musical, Seussical, Hay Fever, and The King and I.

Indian Creek Crownsville Theatre TheaterThree production classes will be offered to Upper School students in 2014-2015: Fall Drama (by audition), Winter Children’s Production (produced by students), and Spring Musical, which are structured around a play and a musical in the fall and a musical in the spring. Students are involved in acting, singing, dancing, set design and technical theater production (lighting and sound). Students who are interested in dance may become part of the Dance Club, which meets daily for one semester. Club members will work with a dance coach and explore a range of styles, including ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance. No experience is required. Members of this club will earn PE credit.
